Ganja Hosts Ceremony to Receive CIS Sports Capital Certificate

On June 15, 2025, a ceremony was held at the Heydar Aliyev Park Complex in Ganja to present the official certificate recognizing Ganja as the Sports Capital of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) for the year 2025.

The event began with the laying of flowers at the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The ceremony was attended by government officials, representatives of CIS member states, cultural and sports figures, as well as prominent members of the public.

Following the presentation of the certificate, guests were introduced to the sports that will be featured in the 3rd CIS Games. Spectators enjoyed performances by athletes across various sports disciplines along the route from the Heydar Aliyev Center to the “Victory Arch.” The event continued with a concert program.

The 3rd CIS Games will be held from September 28 to October 8, 2025, in seven cities across Azerbaijan — Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Sheki, Goygol, and Khankendi. The grand opening and closing ceremonies will take place in Ganja.
