The official closing ceremony of the 3rd CIS Games took place

Today, on October 8, the official closing ceremony of the 3rd CIS Games took place at the Ganja Stadium.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 3rd CIS Games Samir Sharifov noted that athletes from 8 countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and 5 other countries participating in the Games demonstrated their skills and perseverance in competitions in 23 sports.

“They raffled off 235 sets of individual and team awards, giving millions of fans and sports enthusiasts unforgettable moments of joy, excitement and pride. We thank all the athletes who participated in the 3rd CIS Games for these moments and for the sense of pride they evoke. The athletes’ struggle, dedication and will inspire us and lay the foundation for their future success,” said the Chairman of the committee.

Then, to the sounds of the official song of the Games, the CIS flag was lowered. The flag was lowered by the winners of the 3rd CIS Games – Nihad Rahimov (sambo), Magsud Makhsudov (trampoline gymnastics), Turgut Hasanov (karate), Tarlan Gurbanaliev (chovgan), Ogtay Huseynov (swimming), Ali Nazarov (Greco-Roman wrestling), Humai Dadashova (taekwondo), Gulyar Huseynova (boxing), Kenul Eyvazly (judo). It will be submitted to the CIS Executive Committee for presentation to the country that will host the next Games.

After that, the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

The closing ceremony continued with an artistic part – the performance of the rhythm group “Natig”, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Aygun Kazimova, Aysel Teymurzade, Nigar Jamal, Eldar Gasimov, Chingiz Mustafayev, Nadir Rustamli and other stars.

At the end, a fireworks display took place.
