The flag bearers of Azerbaijan have been announced for the opening ceremony of the 3rd CIS Games, which will be held on September 28 at the Ganja City Stadium.
Karateka Asiman Gurbanli and taekwondo athlete Zemfira Hasanzade will carry the Azerbaijani flag at the opening ceremony.
Asiman Gurbanli is one of the most decorated athletes who will compete at the 3rd CIS Games. He is a three-time European champion, winner of the II European Games in 2019 and the III Islamic Solidarity Games, silver medalist at the 2011 World Championships.
Zemfira Hasanzade is the bronze medalist of the European Championship in Olympic weight categories, the European youth champion.
It should be noted that the opening ceremony will be held on September 28, and the closing ceremony will be held on October 8 at the Ganja City Stadium. The competitions will be held in seven cities of Azerbaijan — Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Shaki, Goygol and Khankendi at 12 sports venues.
