President of the Russian Rowing Federation: “The CIS Games are an important start for young athletes”

President of the Russian Rowing Federation, Aleksey Svirin, expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the III CIS Games for the high level of preparation and praised the warm welcome in Azerbaijan. This marks his second visit to the country this year.

It’s always a pleasure to come to Azerbaijan. There’s no doubt that these Games have been prepared with great care and attention to detail. In today’s complex world of sports, every international competition is a valuable opportunity for athletes to gain experience and build new friendships,” said Aleksey Svirin.

Speaking about the readiness of the rowing venue, Svirin emphasized that the conditions in Mingachevir fully meet international standards. He expressed confidence that both the organizing and judging committees would fulfill their responsibilities at the highest level.

Russia currently leads the medal standings, and according to Svirin, this success is the result of a strong organizational model and the continued support for youth sports from both the Russian Ministry of Sport and the Olympic Committee.

Our coaching staff continues the traditions of both Russian and Soviet sports. That’s why it’s so gratifying to see our team in first place,” he added.

When asked about the main rivals in rowing, Svirin named the teams from Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan, noting that strong competition is key to creating a healthy and motivating sports environment.

In conclusion, Aleksey Svirin wished all athletes good health, confidence, and success, and encouraged fans to actively support the competitions:

“I wish the athletes victories. Even if someone doesn’t make it to the podium, it’s important to reflect on the results and keep moving forward. The key is not to get discouraged — and not to become arrogant when you win. And above all, preserve the friendships that begin here, at these starting lines,” Svirin concluded
