The Azerbaijan national youth football team (U-16) is actively continuing preparations for the 3rd CIS Games, which will be held in Azerbaijan from September 28 to October 8.
The football tournament, which will be attended by the national teams of six countries, will be held at the Gabala City Stadium. The draw for this tournament has already taken place. Our team will meet in Group A with the national teams of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Agil Nabiyev, the head coach of the U-16 national team, shared his thoughts on preparations for the 3rd CIS Games:
“We have been preparing for two days now. In addition, earlier this month we were at the training camp, played a test match against the Georgian national team. Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, represented in our group at the 3rd CIS Games, show high-quality play. They are athletic, they like to fight on the field to the end”.
According to the head coach, the team’s goal is to finish the tournament as the winner:
“The tournament will be held in Azerbaijan. We want to please our people with victories and championship. I think we can achieve this”.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan U-16 national team will meet with the Tajikistan on September 27, and with the Kyrgyzstan on October 1. The team that takes the first place in the group will advance to the final, which will be held on October 4.
