An international karate tournament for the 3rd CIS Games has concluded in Mingachevir

On September 20–21, the “Olympic Hopes” international karate tournament among children, juniors, youth and the U21 category took place at the “Kur” Olympic Training and Sports Center in Mingachevir.

The championship is jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Organizing Committee of the 3rd CIS Games and the Azerbaijan Karate Federation.

The tournament served as a preparatory event ahead of the 3rd CIS Games.

A total of 338 karate athletes from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Kuwait participated in the competition. In total, 40 sets of medals were contested. The winners were awarded diplomas, medals, and cups.

It should be noted that the 3rd CIS Games will take place from September 28 to October 8, 2025, in seven cities across Azerbaijan: Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Sheki, Goygol, and Khankendi. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at Ganja City Stadium.

Karate competitions will be hosted at the “Kur” Olympic Training and Sports Center in Mingachevir.
