Today, freestyle wrestling competitions kicked off at the Ganja Olympic Sports Complex as part of the 3rd CIS Games.
On the first day, contests were held in five men’s weight categories – 45 kg, 51 kg, 60 kg, 71 kg and 92 kg – and in four women’s categories – 40 kg, 46 kg, 53 kg and 61 kg.
Eight Azerbaijani wrestlers took to the mat, and seven of them won medals. Nihad Abasov (71 kg) became the champion. Hajiguseyn Ahmedzade (51 kg), Rashid Nazarov (60 kg) claimed silver medals, while Huseyn Rzazade (45 kg), Nazrin Ahmedli (46 kg), Khadijakhanim Talibova (53 kg) and Amin Nasibov (92 kg )secured bronze.
